Common Prefixes

Prefix letters added to the beginning of a word to change meaning.


It means that word plus again.

Example:

redo: To do something again or in a different way. ( 重作 或 換一種方式作 ) ex: You got us redo this three times already.Because I will not redo it again.
replay: The playing again of a short film/movie, tape, etc.(重放一段短片/電影,錄音帶...等)
reunite: To bring two or more people together again after they have been separated for a long time. ( 再結合, 再聯合) ex: The family was reunited after the war. (戰爭過後, 一家人又相聚了)
recapture: To win back a place, position, etc. (重新取得) ex: Government troops soon recaptured the island. (政府的軍隊很快奪回了這個島)

It means AGAINST. (反對)


It means the OPPOSITE or NOT.(相反的)


It means FORMER. (以前的, 前者)


It means MIDDLE.(中間)

It is used to from nouns or adjectives that refer to the middle part of a particular of time, or the middle point of a particular place. (常用在名詞或形容詞之前)
